We’ve written before about how hearing loss is one of the most common injuries in the workplace, but did you know that the workers who suffer the most from hearing loss aren’t those who work in the loudest environments? Instead, it’s workers who work in jobs with moderate noise levels.
That’s because workers on construction sites, in airports, industrial settings and other high-noise places typically wear hearing protection, while those in less-noisy settings don’t. Makes sense when you think about it.
If the noise levels at your work consistently exceed 85 dB, you should always wear hearing protection. Our SoundCheck app for iPhone and Android lets you measure the decibel level in any environment you’re in. Download it on iTunes or Google Play.
And if you think you have work-related hearing loss, a visit to a local hearing professional is recommended. Find one easily by calling 08000 683 533 or clicking here.
